Taking a Stroll With Sophie

I had the opportunity today to go for a walk with Sophie around her new neighborhood.  I gave her a little Vivitar camera to take pictures of whatever she wanted.  I brought along my camera.  Here is what we saw:

Sophie’s liked this flower.

We had a discussion a couple of days ago about what manhole covers were so Sophie took a picture of one on her street.

She liked these rocks

Then I gave her rabbit ears!

We  met a man walking his dog

and  Sophie took a picture of an acorn

We call her next door neighbors dog, Java, “the dancing dog”  because that’s what he does whenever he sees you.  Sophie got a picture of him dancing.  She caught him completely off the ground in his dance.

I took a picture of her taking a picture of me.

All-in-all it was a very enjoyable walk.  We went the farthest away from her house that she ever walked – and then she told me she had to go potty.  Reminder to self-go potty before leaving the house.

We got back to the house in plenty of time.

A flock of birds chattered at us on the way home

do you see the bird?

One final shot that Sophie took of me was this excellent “portrait from below” – an unusual view up my nostrils.

Two Weeks in Pictures

After our travels down to Sanibel and a short visit with Kathy we headed up to Jacksonville to have a triple birthday celebration for Karen, Christy and me.  We gathered at Karen's house and went to lunch at Brio's Italian Restaurant .  We had a great lunch.

The kids were given some pizza dough to mold into shapes and then the dough was baked.

Note Sophie's concentration
and Lucy's mastery of the art.

back at the house we had a special cake made by Penny with help from Lucy and Sophie.

Christian spent some quality time with the kids.

We returned home on Sunday and then hit the road again on Thursday to go to Tallahassee for a quilting class.  While Penny went to her class I went to St Marks National Preserve and took many pictures.

I saw a bald eagle
a light house

lots of birds

spent about 20 minutes just watching this egret wade up the canal catching fish.

a turtle

a gator with babies
a bird in a tree

Then we rushed back home to attend a wedding in Destin on Saturday.
I didn't get any good pictures of the wedding but they had a beautiful sunset at Destin Harbor and I did get pictures of that

After that things have settled down to our normal routine - haircuts, doctor's appointments and a FOCCUS couple.

Next week is Thanksgiving!

On the homefront 2 kitties, Buzz and Meredith, are still coming for dinner outside. (the feeder continues to work well, is raccoon resistent and can feed for a month now before it needs to be refilled.)
My replacement for the desktop computer that died a while back is supposed to arrive tomorrow.  We got an up-to-date machine with the latest/fastest intel chip, lots of memory and good capability that should be adequate for us until we stop using desktops.
