Time flies! We have
been back 1 week from Jax and Sophie's 8th birthday party. We leave again on
Thursday to return to watch the kids for their last week of Summer vacation.
It has been an extremely hot summer so far and being outside
has been oppressive. Penny and I are spending most of our recreation time at
the rookery. We haven't kayaked in
months - but we don't usually do that in mid-summer because of iffy weather. We don't kayak in windy weather or when
thunder storms are a possibility.
The garden is over except for periodic eggplants and green
peppers. I did get 1 cantaloupe this
year and it was a good one. I rolled up
the bird net so the birds could eat the remaining overripe and rotting tomatoes. The remaining crop is grapes. They should be getting ripe soon.
I've been pleased with my new camera. The dollar investment and the added
capability has forced me to actually get some training in photography. (DVDs
and books and articles on the web) Good
equipment is not the key to good photography - and the better the camera and
especially the lens, the less forgiving the photos are too poor technique. I am pleased that much of the advice has
already come naturally to me - especially in the advice about how to take good
pictures of birds (which is the main thing we do).
I am not good at taking pics of people so learning about that
has been beneficial. It will be interesting to see if my pics of people improve
now.
Here are a few more recent bird pics
