Friday Ramblings

Penny and I did some “us” stuff today, a trip to Target, picking up inexpensive medical costumes for Halloween (we will be playing doctor), lunching at Harbordocks and picking up some fixings for an interesting weekend meal. I spent the afternoon staining the deck.
But as all this was going on here are some of the meaningless thoughts that crossed through my mind.

While driving out to Destin I hit many dragonflies and butterflies. I don’t feel too bad when I hit a dragonfly but I always don’t like hitting butterflies. I always look in the rear view to see if they are still flying.

Penny’s meal came with banana pudding. I wondered if she would eat it all or whether I’d get some. I usually do. Not today though. She ate it all up.

I saw a dog come up on deck on a sailboat anchored in Destin Harbor. I wondered out loud to Penny if dogs liked being on boats. She said they loved it and recounted a story about a neighborhood dog that liked to go on her dad’s boat. I asked where does the dog poop? This obviously was not the best subject to discuss at lunch but we did discuss options for the dog. Then it hit me. It would poop on the poop deck, of course.

Lots of Monarch butterflies flew by while we ate. They pass through our area on their way to Mexico. If Kathy lived here she’d grow plants to feed them as they passed through.

I know your comment about the dog pooping on the boat was just a joke, but I thought I'd comment anyway. When I worked at the marina there was a couple that was living on their sailboat with their boxer. They had a rope coiled up on the bow. They trained the dog to go on the coiled rope and they would throw the soiled rope in the water for a while, then pull it back on board and coil it up again. So there you go.
