Day 1 we explored the Mendocino coast. The rain forecasted never appeared. Instead we had mostly blue skies.
We visited 2 lighthouses and sighted our first whales.
Day 2 we explored the old growth redwood forests to the north. The forecasted rain never appeared.
Day 3 we went out on a whale watching boat. We saw lots and lots of whales in a pod consisting of about a dozen whales.
We had lunch at a restaurant that overlooked the harbor and watched the boat we were on head back out with another group.
The forecasted rain held off for another half-hour and the it rained steadily for the rest of the day. We went back to the B&B and took a nap. We went to church and then went to a movie and saw The King’s Speech. Excellent.
The rain is supposed to continue through Monday. Tomorrow we do the Skunk Train which is doable in the rain and if the rain continues we will visit some of the local wineries.
We are having a good trip.
