Jan 2015

I miss having my blog as a “historical” reference so I’m  going to start writing again.  We will see how long this lasts.
We've already made our major vacation plans for the year. Guatemala in March and New England in October.
Our last visit to Jacksonville was Christmas and we are planning on returning again this coming weekend.
Today I finally unloaded Sophie and Lucy’s beds from the trailer.  I built them new beds last year and Karen has no use for the old beds.  It took me about 3  months to clear out the shed and make room to store the beds.  I’m likely going to refurbish the beds and sell or give them away.   We are going to keep and use the nightstand.
I began garden planning today.  Now that I have a good idea about what I will grow I am going to make a more permanent set up for the garden.  It should look better and be more functional.
My other ongoing project is to get rid of a lot of stuff I’ve held onto over the years.  I’m at the point now that saving things in case I might use them someday doesn’t make sense.  I’m getting pretty good about dumping stuff but it is still difficult.  Most of my life growing up we had to make do with what we had and didn’t throw out anything with any potential utility.
Now that tendency is still in me and it is hard to let go.
Kitty Update – 2 outside kitties remain.  Buzz and Meredith have been our backyard cats for the last few years.  The automatic feeder now is raccoon proof and can feed for 3 weeks or more without refill.  I replaced the motor in the unit and also the electric timer.  I’m currently doing a test run to assure myself that the feeder will work for the amount of time we will be out of town when we travel in March.
