Faceoff

I just watched a story on CBS news about the woman who received the face transplant a while back. She had her old face blown off by her shotgun wielding husband. Before the surgery she had no nose, could not smell anything. She couldn’t drink without a straw. She stayed inside because people treated her badly.

She is by no means normal to look at but now she is happy because she’s got her nose back. She can smell and eat hamburgers and drink without a straw. I don’t know if she will be treated differently by society now. Her last words in the news story were “ Enjoy what you have. You never know when you might lose it.”

It is sad that people can be so cruel to others because of how they look but that’s the way it is. One would think she would have found sympathy and support after being shot in the face. I guess she did from some. The million dollar operation didn’t cost her a cent.

Now she can stop and smell the roses again.
