The Osprey aircraft that crashed in Afghanistan this week was based here at Hurlburt. Our priest was a member of the team that notified the wife of one of the men that was killed. He related the story to us at mass today.
It’s not an easy job and he has done it 5 times now in his career. After they told the wife she said they had to tell his mother and the wife couldn’t do it alone. Then they did the same to the sister. Our priest didn’t get home until 3AM and was so upset that he couldn’t sleep.
Be thankful we have these folks that are willing to die for us. Pray for understanding and comfort to their families. I can’t imagine the devastation that one must feel in these situations. Love those you have with you while you can.
