7 Days, 2002 miles

We are back from our Caribbean cruise and our bed here at home lists somewhat to my side whenever I am on it. To say I ate too much is understatement but all the food we had on the cruise was fantastic. Penny and I spent today simply recovering and getting back our land legs. I pushed myself yesterday by driving home without resting first, so this morning I rested.—and this is all I wrote on Monday.
Today, Tuesday I unpacked all our suitcases and took a walk.

When I decided to look at my pictures I found that my SD card had no images on it. Somewhere in the process of copying them to my Sister’s computer my card got wiped. Fortunately Kathy says she has them and has burned a disk and mailed it to me.

So I have none of my pictures to share with you yet. Instead I’ll make some observations about the cruise. Holland America caters to the older crowd. They have a faithful following and most of the people on this cruise were repeat customers. Penny and I were youngsters and being on only our 2nd cruise we were relative neophytes. The crew is drawn mainly from Indonesia and the Philippines and it makes for a housekeeping and dining staff that aims to please. Communication is a little difficult at times but they sincerely try to do all they can to serve well. ----And that’s all I wrote Tuesday.

I didn’t write Wednesday but I did catch and release elsewhere another possum.

Now it’s Thursday. I’m beginning to catch up with the house. After 7 loads of laundry and putting away suitcases and other stuff I’m making slow progress. I figure it will take into next week to finish. We have Pre-Cana this Sunday so that day is gone.

Today we heard the blue jays outside making a terrible racket. We thought it was the neighbor’s cat. I went out front to investigate and was surprised to see a beautiful short-tailed hawk sitting on our fence about 25 ft from me. He was backlit by the sun and just sat there looking for prey on our lawn. I dashed inside to get my camera-with my 20X lens I could’ve gotten a great shot but I inadvertently slammed the storm door in my haste and scared him away.

I’ll probably write some about the cruise when I get my pictures but everyone who reads my blog was either on the cruise or has been told about it by Penny and I. Besides a picture is worth a thousand words.

Christy's plant outside our front door began to bloom once again on her birthday.  Hopefully it will be in full bloom for Thanksgiving.
