The past 2-weeks has seen its ups and downs. Penny had oral surgery; Christy got a new job; Kathy is preparing to move to Jacksonville; we spent Valentine's day weekend in Jacksonville; Penny cooked; we spent lots of time with our grandkids and family ; I got sick.
I had a bad Sunday night and a tough time driving back Monday night and I still feel weak and have an upset stomach tonight (Wednesday).
We had Friday to ourselves and did some shopping and got stuff for the meal on Sunday.
We watched Sophie and Lucy all day Saturday. so Karen and Tim could go to work and then go out. They went to as many Oscar nominated movies as they could fit in. We took the kids to breakfast and lunch, went on an explore and saw a pair of Osprey building their nest and did a little shopping.
Penny also made final prep for the meal she would cook on Sunday.
Sunday was a great family day. We had the complete immediate family – daughters, husbands, grandkids and grand-animals (well, except Colby and PJ). Penny’s meal was wonderful. We ate, we celebrated Christy’s job, we laughed, we played; in short we had a real family gathering with the new generation taking the reins and beginning new family traditions. It couldn’t have been better.
Here are some pics:
I got sick that night and since we had volunteered to watch the kids on Monday Penny had to step up and take over everything. All I could do was hurt and sleep. She stepped up and did what was needed without complaining.
I got up for a while and tried to help out but only ended up lying down and taking an unplanned nap.
The plan was that I would drive back on Monday night and that unplanned nap revived me sufficiently to make the drive. The drive was not easy. Fortunately the traffic wasn’t bad. My body was just achy and I was still just beginning to get some liquid back in my system. I was glad to make it home.
I’ve done a lot of sleeping since I’ve been back. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
