Today was our semi-annual visit to the dentist. I’ve got a chip out of one of my front tooth that our dentist has tried to repair 3 times unsuccessfully. Each time she filled it in I popped it out within 24 hours. Each time she “fixed” it she dropped the price as a favor to me. Today she filled it again and didn’t charge me. So far I haven’t popped it out.
I spent about 5 hours with my Brother today. I took him to his bank, lunch and grocery shopping. He still was mixed up about his accounts at the bank and he spent about 45 minutes working out the details with the people there.
He’s working with a local church. One of the church members is renting him a little “bungalow” for only $ 300 a month. It’s a nice little place with a full little kitchen, living room, bedroom and bathroom. It is an old building but it is much nicer than the room he lived in in CT. He may be staying here for 2-4 months depending on what the We Care organization requires of him.
We had a “kitchen in a box” set of utensils, pots, pans, bowls, etc. that we got at Target a couple of years ago. We gave that to him so he could use his kitchen. All he lacks now is a set of dishes.
I’ll probably get together with Lou once a week or so. He’s far enough away that the cost of gas is a consideration—otherwise I’d likely see him more. He knows to ask if he needs something from us.
Tomorrow for a change is an open day—no commitments, maybe a day of rest.
I didn’t have any trouble with my back, shoulders or hands on our trip to Montana and I definitely used all those parts to the max. What ended up hurting on me is the balls of my feet. Evidently the hiking boots I thought were so good weren’t. Here it is a week later and my feet still hurt. I did some research on the problem and found that I need to provide arch support for my feet to take pressure off the ball of the foot—and that I should not walk around barefoot, especially on hard surfaces. I happened to have some arch supports that we got on sale at (surprise!) Target so I slipped them in my shoes and they worked to relieve the pain. I’m hoping that this is one pain that will go away without me having to get medical attention.
KITTY UPDATE—The cats show up sporadically now. With the storm yesterday none showed up. Tonight Velcro and Meredith were there. Tomorrow, who knows?
