Clouds, Rain, Shop!

Once again the weather person was correct. We woke up to overcast skies (did I mention we slept in this morning?). After a nutritious breakfast of buttered toasted banana bread and coffee we headed to the quilt shop on Main Street, Wilmington. Penny had fun looking at fabric and bought some stuff for a future project.

Penny Shopping

Our purchase entitled us to a free ¼ lb piece of fudge at the country store next to the quilt shop. That got us in there. We found the store had the vintage Cabot cheese that we drove 150 miles to find a couple days ago. The Cabot store had free samples so that’s how we found we liked it. Now we have a local supply. The country store had every flavor of fudge you can imagine. I got dark chocolate cherry.

We wandered over to Dot’s restaurant for lunch then headed back to the cabin where I stacked firewood for a couple of hours—until the rain came.

The weather is weird up here. Each day so far has been a mixture of clouds, rain and blue sky—sometimes all at the same time. The rain today ended and the sky cleared, I thought. From our view at the cabin I could see no clouds. We had an hour until sun set so we grabbed our cameras and went out to make pictures while the sun shined. More clouds moved in but I still got a shot or 2 in.

Our evening “meal” consisted of wine and cheese with apple pie for desert. We were visited once again this evening by the neighborhood dog, Lacey. I fed him a little cheese. He left and then showed up again about an hour later hoping for more food. In the heart of dogs hope springs forever. I didn’t feed him any more.

Feed ME Please

Tomorrow, for the first time since we’ve been up here, the weather forecast is calling for sunny weather! We are planning to visit Woodstock, about 100 miles north of us in central Vermont. After Woodstock I have a scenic loop drive planned to bring us back to the Interstate. We enjoyed Woodstock 2 years ago so we are going back again. Maybe tomorrow will be a good picture day.
