Cats, Raccoons and Beans
That was my day. I spent a couple hours this morning fine-tuning the cat feeder. It has been working fine but was being quite generous with the amount of food dispensed. That hasn’t been a problem until recently. The food would just pile up on the chute and dispense as it was eaten. What made this unacceptable was the raccoon family’s appearance. There are at least 3 of them out there and they will clean out the feed chute easily. So I opened up the feeder and closed some of the gaps that allowed too much food to slip by. Now it dispenses just enough for the cats to eat in a day. By the time the raccoons show up in the evening there is slim pickin’s. The feeder is strong enough to keep them away from the food stored in it. The cats will just have to learn to eat up during the day.
Without this fix I couldn’t keep the cats fed when I go out of town for a week. Now It should feed for 2 weeks with the auxiliary food chamber (big plastic bottle that goes on top) in place.
This afternoon I cleared an area where my garden was last year and planted some snow peas and string beans. It’s late in the season to plant these but we figured we’d just throw them in the ground and see what we get. They will get their water from the lawn sprinkler system.
Tomorrow is Friday-Target-Day. Penny’s back came through our exploring Thursday OK but it is still giving her some issues. We’re not planning any new adventures this weekend. We want the back to be OK next week.
