Back at Home, Tired But Happy

We had a wonderful Christmas Holiday. Penny brought it to a marvelous end last night by preparing a spectacular meal for C&C and his family. She made 3 types of ravioli, roasted asparagus and sautéed spinach with garlic. We stuffed ourselves but somehow still found room for some of her chocolate cherry cannoli cake and coffee.

After a Waffle House breakfast with C&C this morning Penny and I cleaned up the mess we made preparing the meal before driving back home. The drive back was not eventful. Traffic was thicker than usual. I guess a lot of people chose to return home on Saturday and avoid the Sunday crowds. The only down side was that the Wendy’s we stopped at for lunch was slammed and not handling it well.

I’m more worn out than I usually am after driving home. I’m happy, however. We got to spend some quality time with our kids, grand kid and grand animals. Except for Penny’s meal preparation there was little time pressure. We went to a park, we went to the beach and everyone enjoyed special Sophie time.

Now, for the first time in a long while, we don’t know when our next trip will be. We have nothing scheduled. On the drive back we talked about going to New Orleans for a day sometime before Mardi Gras.

There were no kitties around tonight. The feeder did its job and the food is being eaten so I expect at least 1 of them to show up before bedtime.
