We moved some of our investments into fixed interest accounts today. I don’t see the Government doing the right things to bring us out of this recession headed toward depression. Congress passes a “stimulus package” that essentially repeals the hard won welfare reforms—no longer requiring welfare recipients to seek work, pays back the organizations that got them elected and has spending occurring mostly 2 years out when it's too late.
The government is basically working to make more and more people dependant on it—and it is succeeding. I liken it to an alcoholic who hasn’t hit bottom yet. Washington is carrying out a political agenda rather than an economic one. It’s going to take the economy falling a lot more before they sober up and maybe do something that is good for the country(assuming they care about the country).
Meanwhile Mr Obama says wonderful words but takes terrible action. How long are we going to give him the benefit of the doubt? He is pushing socialism. I found it amusing that he mimicked what the socialist Soviet Union used to do. The USSR claimed to have invented everything. Mr Obama claimed that this country invented the automobile! I can’t believe his handlers let him say that. I wonder how many believed him.
Once again I hope I’m wrong but I think we are not going to see things turn around for a long time.
